Great Elm Village

Great Elm is a village close to Frome in Somerset, 15 miles south of Bath. It has just 65 households and can be found just off the A362 between Frome & Radstock, east of Mells village. It owes its origin to the medieval village grouped around the church but in the late 19th century an iron works was established on the Mells Stream resulting in a change of focus. The landscape surrounding the village is very beautiful, with rolling arable landscape to the north and the cleft of Vallis Vale to the south, where the Mells Stream swells to provide the village pond. Local geology is of particular interest and there are many lovely walks in the Vallis Vale.
